The Professional Pinup - Vintage in the Workplace

Working hard...or hardly working?
Good thing I didn't wear my Bridget Jones knickers today!
One of the questions that I often ask my fellow Belles is "what are you wearing today?" We are a gang made up of a multitude of different occupations including; office babes, sales assistants, a warehouse sweetheart and a nurse. Just because a job is not the 'typical pinup' job doesn't mean us ladies can't look our best at work. You can be practical and comfortable and still look 110% babe-licious!

Office Wear - Formal
I'm going to start with the obvious choice for vintage work wear. I love the aesthetic of a girl hard at work in the office, running the business and showing the men who is boss... and if she can do it dressed like Diana Dors, then even better! Naturally, my top choices for office work wear is a pencil skirt and either a sweater or a blouse.

Labour Wear
For those of you gals who have more physical jobs or jobs that involve being outside in the colder weather, a tight pencil skirt and low cut top might not be suitable - both in practicality and comfort. Luckily, there are several options out there.

Accessories
If you are unable to wear your own clothes for health and safety reasons or your work policy, there are subtle changes you can make to represent the pinup brand. I am a student nurse (and soon to be registered), which requires me to wear a uniform, as do several different jobs. However, I have bought lanyards and other little accessories/utilities to express my love for vintage.

  1. Ohh great idea with the lanyards and lunchbox. I'm training to be an odp so I have to wear scrubs and a hat everyday so these accessories are great.

  2. Great post. it's not always easy to be vintage at work but a little nod in the right direction with some accessories or one vintage style piece gives you the feeling you don't have to miss out.
